London members club for urban creatives
42 Acres Shoreditch is the members club for urban creatives – with a hippy streak. From meditation sessions to talks on the environment, consciousness and politics, they’re creating a new, more enlightened way to work.
With a similar retreat already established in Somerset, our task was to interpret the concept into a responsive website designed with the different expectations of the London audience in mind.
There’s no shortage of co-working spaces in East London, so our starting point was that the site needed to feel as unique as the physical space.
Working with branding agency Sibling & Rival, we developed a restrained and minimal design toolkit. Using a mixture of traditional and modernist typography, our goal was to move the brand aesthetic forward while retaining the connection between the old and new venues.
In designing the event listing features, we wanted to avoid the clumsiness of most event booking interfaces we’ve come across. With a few thoughtful UX tweaks and a clean-as-possible design, our aim was to make the discovery of events at 42 Acres as seamless as possible.
We also built an end-to-end process for booking the space – automating something their staff would otherwise have to manage. That includes a calendar and payment system, and streamlined access to key venue information.
The launch of the site saw a rapid oversubscription of the membership waiting list, and continues to drive ticket sales to the event series. And we loved working with them…
